RE: island kitchen

Everest 344J and 348 have "J" shaped kitches, their 366I is a rear kitchen with an eating island. My 345S is sort of "U" shaped. You can check them out at the Everest website. Larry

RE: I was very bad today!

Oh, you are a very BAAAAAAD person. Nice out, but don't have the vacation time built up to where I can go anyplace unless it's for a 3 day weekend, or I would be a bad person also. So looking forward to retirement and fulltiming (hopefully in the next few months) - I just can't imagine anything better in life. Larry

RE: Should I get the 2nd ac (height related)

I am a tad over 13' 3" with my second air. So far, in our travels, there is only one underpass we went thru where I sucked it up (just like it would help) around Greensboro TX crossing under the interstate to get fuel, that was 13' 4" and we cleared it .... probably would have scraped tho if I had a newpaper riding on the top of the front air. Go for the 2nd air, but just be aware of your height. Everyplace we've been has been good about posting height for anything below 14' Larry

RE: Towing limits for trailblazer

In my opinion, talk about "tail wagging the dog". Beyond weight, just the length of that trailer will have your short wheel base TB going where it wants to "push" you, not necessarily where you want to go. Larry

RE: Can I increase my towing capacity

Don't doubt you in the least. But a rule of thumb is that when sizing for a correct tow vehicle, it is best to use the GVWR of the trailer in the calculations. That way, you will not have to be concerned if on the one trip you do decide to "load up", if your tow vehicle will be able to handle it. Personally, I would much rather have more tow vehicle than needed instead of right on the line empty than have an aw-sh!t when I decide it's time to stock up and go. Larry

RE: Little Survey On Tow Rigs

Based on your post, it appears to me that Dodge owners are far more intelligent that Ford or GM owners when it comes to towing. Ford and Gm owners seem to have bought into the "it can pull anything" hype, while Dodge owners have done the research and know their trucks limitations :S and have sized their trucks according to the load they are pulling. :B Don't want to start a truck war, but please check your numbers before you make such a blanket statement about vehicle capacity "hype". There isn't a 1 Ton Dually (Dodge / Chevy / GMC) that has the 13,000 GVWR/26,000 GCWR of my F350 Dually. Can I pull anything? No, and I'm not dumb enough to think I can. Larry

RE: Short stops

4 of us (2 adults / 2 kids 12/14) went from Memphis to Corpus Christi just before Christmas and only hooked up power and water. 3 days and all tanks were only about 1/3 when we got to our destination. You should have no problem, just 'conserve'. We didn't unhook either as the campground were level enough that the trailer was level while hooked. Put down the landing gear and rear stabilizers just to keep from getting sea-sick. Larry

RE: Video of 5er hitting TV w/o slider hitch

Seen that vid a few months back. I don't think it was so much that he has a non-slider on a short bed, it is that he had a bicycle in the bed and when he turned, the trailer hit the handlebars, the handlebar broke the rear window. Some people never learn ..... I know quite a few folks that tow fivers with short beds and no slider hitch and have no problems. Just have to be aware of where the trailer is in relation to the truck at all times. The way the driver was looking around, it is obvious he did not know where the trailer was. Bet he does now! Larry

RE: Alternative to Camping World?

I buy at my RV Dealer. When you figure in CW shipping, the dealer is cheaper, then as they honor Good Sam, that knocks another 10% off. Larry

RE: Tub to shower conversion.

Check with Home Depot or Lowes. You can get a corner shower kit (floor pan, walls and enclosure), but you will probably have to trim the height down some. Also, my dealer has an online parts catalog so I would assume that most other dealers do also. The size they show isn't much smaller than what I've see at HD or Lowes. Larry

RE: Anyone use a Pullrite Superglide on Tundra Crew Max?

Change your attitude and maybe someone will answer you! In the mean time, I have 2 suggested readings for you. 1 - your owners manual, 2 - How To Win Friends and Influence People.

RE: TrailAir Hitch thoughts on adding when ordering new unit

The option installed by the factory is $1,159 and we would be matching this up to a PullRite Superglide. Have a TrailAir and think it's the best thing since PBJ sandwiches. See if you can negotiate that price a bit. The hitch is only $800 from the factory, and I'm quite sure that you can either install it your self (then you only have shipping extra) or have a hitch shop do it for a whole lot less than $359. I had mine installed by a local hitch shop - $925 including the hitch, shipping, and they came to my home and installed it - they even took the old lipper pin box off my hands. Larry

RE: Slow slide-out question

Second Kejsj30. My Everest also has (or had until I pulled it off) a sticker next to the slide switch that stipulates the batteries MUST be connected when operating the slides.

RE: Jack knife vs. pull out sofa bed.

Our new 5th wheel (Cougar 245RKS) can only be ordered with a jack-knife bed as opposed to a pull out sofa which we are familiar with. What the heck is a Jack-knife sofa is it like a fouton bed? When we were at the dealer we had only seen sofa beds no jack-knife. Thanks Ron If your new Cougar is anything like the new Everests, the bed is extremely similar to the Flair sofa that someone posted a link to previously. The top pull forward over the seat and fold out. The base has a drawer for storage. We checked them out last Aug, but Flair only sells to OEM dealers (or they did at the time). The sofa bed in our is the pits if you weigh more that 10 lbs. Flimsy mattress and hard steel support bars. The floor was much more comfortable according to our daughters.

RE: 2006 F350 Factory 20" Wheels Tow A 5th Wheel Trailer

20" tires on an '06 F350 is NOT stock. My '06 has 17" and it is stock - bought it that way off the lot with less than 200 miles on it. Gotta love it when folks jack their trucks up so high it takes a step ladder to get in then grumble when they are so high that they cant get it under their fiver or need a 10" drop hitch to get the TT level. When you go oversize on tires, the first thing that happens is that you LOOSE towing capacity unless to change the rear end gear ratio to compensate for the larger diameter tire.

RE: Ford recalls 7.3 CPS, WOW! I WONDER WHY????

Wow, Ford sure did jump right on that problem. LOL Guess they were busy making parts for the cruise control recall. Let me think for a minute,,,,, hasn't the 6.0 PSD come and gone?:h Wonder if their falling sales figures has anything to do with it. Wild - please re-read the original post beyond the word 'Ford'. The CPS recall is on the 7.3L engine - not the 6.0L

RE: 1.2 million 7.3 Diesel Engine Sensor Recall - 6 Dec 2007

The Cam Position Sensor problem has been discussed for quite a few years on the Ford Powerstroke website. One of the first things that is checked when and engine quits. From what I've read, it's a fairly simple job to replace the sensor. Apparently there has been enough he!! raised by owners that Ford has issued an official recall.

RE: Truck front Axle Weight. More or less hooked up

The heavier pin weight will depress the rear springs of your truck more than your older trailer did, and consequently, there will be some weight transfer of the truck toward the back. Personally, I wouldn't worry about 200Lbs. If it does concern you, you could always add overload springs or air bags to bring the truck back up to level putting that 200Lbs back on the front axle. RE: Operation of Electric Front Jacks -- Inner vs. Outer Legs

Gotta add my 2 cents. Speaking from experience, the inner legs can be dropped to the point that the snap pin is actually sitting on top of the leg and at that point, there is only about 2" of the inner leg inside the outer, and no mechanical support. The trailer will follow the truck as you pull out and leave a big ugly frown in the bed of your truck. My sequence is to lower the outer legs about 6" to 8", pull the pin and drop the inner legs, raise them until the pin snaps back in, then finish raising the trailer. Even if it takes a couple tries, I try to get both inner and outer legs where their extension is equal. Larry

RE: Frozen Battery

Gotta disagree - if the battery case is swollen as the OP mentioned - it's a gonner. The plates are warped, and it's only function in life now is a boat anchor or extremely heavy paperweigh Larry
